I wholeheartedly recommend this deadly blog as a reliable, vibrant source of indigenous information. Luke Pearson is a keenly accurate commentator on Australian indigenous issues and I always take great pleasure in reading his cogent analyses!
ReplyDeleteAn excellent straight bat, common sense blog on a difficult, sensitive and all too often, misunderstood issue
ReplyDeleteAn up-to-date, informative blog, with archetypal values. Luke talks about issues which we should be talking about nationally. Australia has a long way to go in becoming egalitarian, and it will be through people like Luke who speak the real truth to challenge this mono-culture of our new Australia.
ReplyDeleteJust a few words in regards to this blog. I have known Luke for a while now and worked with Luke in both a professional and in formal capacity through working at the Wollotuka Institue, University of Newcastle, Australia. During this time I have found Luke to be very knowledgable and refined when giving cultural or professional advice in regards to Aboriginal Australia.
ReplyDeleteHis enthusiasm towards Aboriginal Education not just in the education system but towards education on Aboriginal issues in any setting has been and still is one of his strongest attritbutes.
I have no issue in recommending that anybody wishing to discuss Aboriginal Political,Educational, Historicle or Social issues that they contact Luke and ask the questions you want answered as I am sure that if he doesn't have the answer he will know who to contact or where to go in order to find the answer.
If you have no specific questions then I reccommend reading his blogs in order to gain some insight to the level of this mans knowledge in regards to Aboriginal Australia once you have read his blogs I am sure you will have some further questions or comments that you may like to offer or discuss.
The last thing I will say is that you may not alwasy get the answer that you want or like with Luke but you will get the truth and a great debate as to how the information he is presenting is fact.
I find these blogs both intellectually and morally challengeing so thanks for making these issues known to the greater community Luke.

ReplyDeleteI have known Luke for some years now. He is a perceptive, thoughtful, articulate and culturally strong Aboriginal man.
ReplyDeleteLuke has that rare talent of being able to quickly identify the key issues in difficult and complicated situations that need to be addressed. Moreover, he is then able to suggest relevant, practical and detailed solutions to remedy the problems whether they be to help an individual's learning or address systemic failures in organisations and policies.
As an educator, I can only say that his work with Aboriginal students in my school has lead to a significant growth in their achievement. The students he worked with made excellent progress across a range of literacy and numeracy scores and was identified as the school's highlights in the most recent NAPLAN test results.
On a more personal level, Luke is a caring and generous man with a keen sense of humour. I value his friendship and know that I am not alone in my opinion.
I have known Luke for several years and have been lucky enough to experience both learning from and delivering workshops with Luke.
ReplyDeleteI must say that on the opportunities where I was taught by Luke I found him to be extremely insightful and knowledgeable on issues pretaining to contemporary Indigenous issues.
When working with him I have found that he has a great passion for sharing his knowledge with others.
Luke is always willing to share his passion and knowledge with others. Luke has the ability to engage his audience in a way where all are left either feeling as they have learnt a great deal or wanting to learn more.
I have just come across this site out of a blogsite of Jonathan SHAW (writer/editor) - following up on the recently published Noel BEDDOE book The Yalda Crossing UQP - and other information concerning the Wiradjuri massacre of c. 1841 on "Massacre Island" - about 10 kms up-stream from Narrandera - to the actual site on the Bidgee River - a search and discovery visit yesterday. In the early/mid 1980s I undertook post-grad Dip Educational Studies Aboriginal Education at Armidale - further informing my appreciation for and understanding of past/continuing cultural richness as well as injustices. I taught many years in Japan - where the essence for my Japanese students/audiences of what was Australia was always its Indigenous "heart"! This is a fabulous site - thanks Luke PEARSON. from Jim KABLE (Caves Beach)
